NM FTC January Team Blast!
Hello NM FTC teams!
Some news and updates for the ULTIMATE GOAL Season!
-
- Enigma and their sponsor 505 IT will host a NMFTC Video Team Meetup at 3PM on Saturday, Jan 30 at 3PM MST. This is a great opportunity to talk with other teams and learn from them. Due to the pandemic, some teams have been able to make progress, while others have not even had the opportunity to meet. This situation is happening nationwide and the planned meetup is a chance for NM teams to help and learn from each other! We’ll be sending contact information out to you next week. This is open to all NM FTC teams whether or not you have registered for the season at this point.
- For teams already registered with FIRST, remember to sign up for NM events on this site. There are two practice Remote Practice Scrimmages and one official NM Regional Remote Championship. Note: The Championship is the only event with judging and eligibility for advancement.
- Remote vs. In-Person Events: Due to the Pandemic, the decision has been made that all of NM FTC events for this season will be Remote Events. Many, if not most, regions in the US have made this same decision at this point.
Additional Information based on what I learned at the FTC Partner meeting today:
- For teams that have not yet registered with FIRST, you can still register! FIRST has kept registration open and teams around the world are still registering. If you decide to register, please let me know if you have any problems or need help.
- FIRST has not made decisions about the World Championship. Decisions about In-Person vs Remote events and the number of allocations for each region will depend on the pandemic and final registration / participation numbers. They will be announced at a later date.
- Dean’s List Deadline: If your team is making nominations for the FTC Dean’s List at our Championship, the deadline for submission in your Team Dashboard is 11:59 PM Eastern Time, March 15 2020
- Judging Eligibility: FIRST Recognizes that, due to the pandemic, not all teams will be in a position to finish and compete with a robot. For this season, all registered teams competing in the NM Regional Championship are eligible for all Judged Awards, even if you don’t have a working robot.
- Game Elements: AndyMark is currently backordered for the ULTIMATE GOAL Rings. Please let me know if you have been unable to obtain these. I may be able to send you a couple to work with.
Please contact me if you have any questions, problems or need assistance in figuring out this confusing season!
