Alamogordo NM FTC Scrimmage changed to Remote
Last night, we held a NM FTC Board Meeting to discuss the significantly increasing COVID numbers in the state. We’ve had to make the unfortunate decision to switch the Alamogordo FTC Scrimmage scheduled for January 22 to a remote event. I have changed the scrimmage to a “Remote” event with FIRST running from Jan 22-28. The FLL event scheduled for this Saturday in Alamogordo has also switched to the remote model.
You should refer to the “Remote” versions of the FTC Freight Frenzy Game Manual for details. This is the same model we operated under last season and I believe all of you registered for this Scrimmage successfully participated in those events. We’ll get further access details out to you this weekend. This does require that you have the 2/3 playing field and half field challenge set to participate. If you do not have that, please let me know. We have fields in Alamogordo, Socorro and Albuquerque and could arrange for teams to come use them one at a time to do your scoring runs.
We are holding out hope that things will improve in the 7 weeks we have until the NM FTC Regional Championship, so we are keeping that as a Hybrid event for now. Remote judging for that is still scheduled for Sat, Feb 26 and In-person competition for Sat, March 5. If the situation improves sooner, we could decide to hold some small local in-person practice scrimmages in the week or two before the Championship – stay tuned.
Thanks for your support, participation and understanding in these difficult times! Please let me know if you have any questions.
