Reminder: This event will be Robot Competition and Judging! Since it is a scrimmage, it is essentially for fun and practice.
Here’s some details on how this will work:
- Ford, JP and I will hold a Zoom meeting for registered teams on Sunday, April 11 at Noon MDT. I’ll send a meeting invite to the lead mentors of the registered teams in the next couple days. We will provide more detailed instructions and answer questions then.
- During the Zoom, we will be providing lead mentors with our phone numbers to contact if you have problems or questions.
- All judging will occur on Sunday April 11
- Materials must be uploaded to the FTC-Scoring system by 10 AM MDT
- Judging Interviews will be 1PM to 3PM MDT – We will send a schedule
- Judges may request a second interview between 4PM and 5:30PM MDT
- A Remote Judging Guide for Coaches is attached below
- For both scoring and judging, you will be using the FTC Scoring App located at: https://ftc-scoring.firstinspires.org/
- The device running the app needs to be connected to the internet when running the matches and during judging!
- Login to the app using the registered Lead Mentor 1 or 2 FIRST Dashboard credentials.
- The scores are entered by a lead mentor or someone a lead mentor has designated as a scorekeeper in the app. If desired, lead mentors should see the option to assign that role in the app.
- The scoring screens being used are the same ones normally used by referees at in person events.
- The event time window is Sunday, April 11 at 6:00AM MDT until Saturday, April 17, at 5:00PM MDT.
- All rounds must be run and entered by the 5 PM MDT on April 17!
- A Remote Competition Tips Document is attached below
- You will have the whole event time window to run and score a total of six (6) official competition rounds. You can do them all at once, or spread them out through the week, working on your robot as you go.
- The match is scored by starting a normal 2 minute, 30 second competition round. There will be the usual Autonomous, Driver Controlled and End Game segments.
- You enter the robot’s performance into the app as you go and following the round. You will then submit the results of that round.
- Once you submit the results of that round, they are official!
- These are official timed rounds. Please Remember – Just like a real live event, there are no do overs if things don’t work!
- The system has provisions for running practice rounds. More details on that in the Zoom meeting.
- We will hold a short closing to announce results on Saturday, April 17 at 7 PM MDT, also via Zoom.
- PLEASE REMEMBER – FIRST is depending on your team’s Gracious Professionalism in being honest on scoring the performance of your Robot!!
Good Luck!
Jim, Ford & JP
